When in Campeche, do as the Campecheans do and take a siesta in a swaying hammock. As in the rest of the Yucatan Peninsula, hammocks are essential for a relaxing siesta. The town of Calkini is one of the main hammock producers in the state. It is also an important producer of rocking chairs, yet another way to pause and refresh in Campeche.

Products made of palm or jipi are also unique to Campeche. Craftsmen produce hats, purses, cigarette cases, earrings and more in the humidity of caverns in order to preserve the flexibility of the palm leaves they weave. This allows the finished product the flexibility to be bent without breaking. Another palm with a rougher leaf, called guano, is used to make baskets and furniture.

The town of Tepakan is know for its pottery items; in Dzilbalche the specialty is leatherwork. The craftsmen from Campeche use bullhorns and seashells as raw materials to create detailed miniatures of ships as well as combs, earrings, necklaces and rings.
